Hype Trailer is a Chrome extension that replaces YouTube's default thumbnail hover preview with the video's most-replayed 30 seconds.

What the extension does

When you browse YouTube, the extension reads the public video IDs of the videos shown on the page and asks YouTube's own service for each video's publicly available “most replayed” graph. It uses that to compute the highlight window and play it when you hover.

What we collect and store

• Nothing is sent to the developer or to any third party.
• The only network requests the extension makes are to YouTube's own service (youtube.com), from your browser, using your existing YouTube session — the same data YouTube already shows on its watch pages.
• The extension stores the following locally in your browser (Chrome storage), and nowhere else:
  • your on/off setting;
  • a cache of computed highlight windows, so repeat hovers are instant;
  • anonymous diagnostic counters shown in the extension's own popup.
• This local data never leaves your device. You can clear it at any time by removing the extension.

What we do NOT do

• We do not collect personal information.
• We do not track your browsing.
• We do not use analytics or advertising.
• We do not sell or share any data.

Permissions

• storage — to save your setting and cache highlight windows locally.
• Access to youtube.com — the extension runs only on YouTube and needs to read video IDs on the page and request YouTube's most-replayed data.
